SPEED DIAL
to Ashley Storrie
Monday 7 August at 11.17am.... Where
are you? I'm
in my flat. Just
woken up? No. Been
up for a while? About
45 minutes, yeah. OK,
and what are you up to? Are you having breakfast? No,
I'm studying. Studying? For
my exams. What
exams have you got? I'm
doing my university exams just now 'cos I went to New Zealand with my
mum [comedian Janey Godley] when everybody else had them. No
way. That sucks. So you're doing a Fringe show and studying for exams
at the same time? Yeah. That's
mental. How many hours of studying are you doing every day? I'm
trying to do at least two hours a day, just so I know I've got a good
knowledge to fall back on. And
when do the exams start? The first one's on the 10th. Then I've got one on the 17th and one on the 21st. |
What
subjects? I'm
studying film-making, so one of them's on broadcasting, one of them's
on bridging texts and one of them's just a communication thing. So
what are you working on just now? Broadcast
media and censorship. And none of it's going in my brain - it's all
just skimming about. Is
there any sort of crossover? Can you use any of the stuff you're studying
in the show at all? [Laughs]
No! It's
not even slightly funny? No
- I wish it was, but no. Have
you got a plan for later today? For when you're done studying? Yep
- I'll go to the Underbelly to do the show at half six, and then I might
go out with my friends there for a while. But not too late, because
that would mess up my studying tomorrow morning. Is
this your final year of study, or have you got a few more to go? So
when you come back to the Fringe next year are you going to do this
again, this combination of work of study? I
don't know. It depends. Is
this the first time you've done it? Yeah
- this is the first time I've had to study during the Fringe. You
must be knackered - is it wearing you down? Not yet, but I think it will do in a few days' time. |
