WINNING HUMOUR
by Ken Smith
GLASGOW stand-up
Janey Godley is in New Zealand after travelling via the United States
where a visa-checking Homeland Security official asked what she did
for a living. When she replied
"comic" he said loudly: "Tell me a joke." As her daughter
hissed "please mum, don't", Janey asked: "OK. Who is
the worst world leader whom everyone hates? He can't speak good English,
is clearly mentally affected, and most people with a decent IQ cannot
stand him?" With the atmosphere
distinctly chilly, he barked: "I don't know, ma'am, who would that
be?" "Saddam Hussein," replied Janey, who was allowed on her plane, even though she added: "You thought I was going to say George Bush, didn't you?" |
